A Model Speaks: What 'Quiet On Set' Didn't Expose About Entertainment
Yes, we all know the casting couch is real, but what about these issues?
If you’ve been reading up on the news, then you may have noticed the smash-hit new documentary series Quiet on Set. The docuseries focuses on the horrifying abuses child stars faced on Nickelodeon’s sets during the 90s and early 2000s.
For many of us Nick fans, it was stuff we already knew. We knew about Dan Schneider’s foot fetishism and the inappropriate behavior he had with actresses. We all know about the rumors of him impregnating Jamie Lynn Spears.
As someone who has worked in the modeling industry during that time (mid-2000s), I see a lot of things that I had to experience to some extent, too. I don’t think that the series fully explains a lot of the issues that media has.
While Quiet on Set brought up much of what we experienced, it missed some things. Most importantly, they missed out on the culture of silence that surrounds entertainment.
