Fuck Around & Find Out: Sex Tourism Edition
Or, why I'm really not that shocked by what happened in Colombia
Recently, the US Embassy sent out a warning to male travelers to avoid using dating apps while in Colombia. Why? Because eight men were killed after they used dating apps to hook up with barely-legal-there women.
In other words, a bunch of #passportbros, the same type who say American women are “entitled and used up,” fucked around and found out. As it turns out, the prey can be the predators too.
As someone who is Romanian-American and actually lived in the old country, I feel like I should speak up about this topic.
Before I begin, the #passportbro world is not the same as just falling for someone abroad.
My mom met my dad while working in the US Embassy. They were trailblazers when they got married. Mom left Romania for the States, and here I am. Love can happen anywhere. If it happens, I am not one to judge if the guy truly loves the woman.
And trust me, I know when it’s actually love.
Passport bros are different and they do not have good intentions with women. Here’s why:
They pick countries where the women are economically disadvantaged or in actual danger. These includes countries like Thailand, Bangladesh, Colombia, China, and Honduras—and yes, my mom’s country of Romania too. (Though that’s been petering out.)
They are going there to exploit women or even young girls. A lot of these guys do not want marriage. They’re looking to have lots of sex and then cut the girl loose—which they could do in America, but oh no, they’d have to be over 18! The legal age in Colombia is 14.
If they are going for marriage, they are looking for “submissive” women who will basically act like slaves. Yeah, I’m going to point out that men who get on this trip are actually perpetuating stereotypes about “soft, submissive” women. Oddly enough, they usually can’t handle traditional relationships in these countries.
In other words, it’s the mail-order bride movement repackaged, but with a bigger dash of exploitation.
I fully expect some men to beat their chests about “feminism” being the problem in America.
Feminism is not the problem here. If you have to break a person’s legs to keep them near you, you are the problem. If you’re a fan of Andrew Tate, you are the reason why women avoid you.
There are PLENTY of American women who would happily cook, clean, and bear children in a traditional relationship here. They just aren’t doing that with guys like passport bros because the passport bros don’t bring anything to the table, refuse to date them on their terms, or are downright fucking abusive.
I’ve said this before and I’ll say it again: if guys here would take women out on dates the way passport bros do to foreign women, they would have ZERO issue finding a connection. It’s not about American women. It’s about how you treated them before you even tried to give them a chance.
Lately, the #passportbrolife has been a series of “fuck around, and find outs.”
I’ll be honest here—I’m well aware that most women in Eastern European countries will give guys a suspicious look if they say they’re from America. Being American abroad is not the flex it was in 1992. The trope of “ugly American” is real, and honestly, deserved.
For years, the passport bro/mail-order bride thing has been a growing way for guys to date. However, it’s one that’s been fully steeped in exploitation, human trafficking, and bad shit.
They sure do love fucking around with exploited women, though! This leads to a lot of “find outs” that guys are starting to gain awareness of…
A lot of those women drain bank accounts then bolt.
I’ve warned guys about this in the past. Do all women who start off in a passport bro marriage do this? No. Some end up contacting the embassy to flee for their lives or do something else. Maybe some love them.
I don’t know, but I do know passport bro marriages aren’t usually enviable. The girl’s presence there is conditional on you having money. If that money dries up or gets spent, she has no use for you and neither does her family.
In Thailand, older men who marry 15-year-old kids often end up killing themselves when they’re bankrupt and she leaves. A lot of “passport bros” will marry for years then be shocked when their wives divorce and ask for alimony.
If you were going to another country in hopes of not being “divorce raped,” I got some sad news for you…It can happen with any woman!
