Thanks To Abdul, I Realized How Much I Take For Granted
It's amazing how much a quick call can change your perspective.
I wasn’t having a good day today. It was a day that started with a photoshoot gone bad, with the end result being a broken (and deeply painful) fingernail that will undoubtedly need to be fixed first thing next morning.
I then found myself grumbling about my taxes, my financial situation, as well as a million other things. I’ve often felt like I was in an abusive relationship with America.
Almost every single time I’ve needed help, financial support, or healthcare in this country, I’ve been denied it. I’ve seen the worst that America has to offer and suffered serious abuse at the hands of the medical-industrial complex here.
As an American, I often feel like I have no rights to my body. It’s a primary reason why I want to leave the country and give up my citizenship. Today was one of those days where I really didn’t feel like you could get worse than being in America.
