The Secret Truth About The "No Kings" Protests
Did this actually accomplish something, or are we just barking at a tree stump?
Throughout the United States, this weekend was filled with peaceful protests. Every major city involved hundreds or even thousands of protesters who rose up against Donald Trump’s king-like behavior. It was beautiful and almost everyone knows someone who attended a rally.
Donald Trump’s birthday involved tanks, a remark about making Americans act like North Koreans, and a lot of empty seats. More people showed up to protest the pig in the White House than showed up to the Trump birthday parade.
The protests went viral, primarily because the turnout was one of the largest in recorded history—or at least, for what we know. Due to the media’s silence and sanewashing, we may never really know the full extent of the protest.
However, social media has been showing a crazy turnout…especially when compared to Trump’s birthday parade. This was, of course, in spite of the many warnings from law enforcement telling people not to protest.
It was a great turnout and I was actually surprised that agitators weren’t able to wreck this. However, I have one nagging question: what did the No Kings protest accomplish?
As a protest skeptic, I think a lot of this is highly ineffective in terms of swaying the GOP.
Look, I’ll be blunt, we’re past the point of protests. The GOP is aware they are not popular and they don’t care. They got the votes they needed to go full speed ahead with fascism so they’re just doing whatever they want.
The skeptical side of me sees this as a highly ineffective way to make our point known. Conservatives, if nothing else, are already aware that the average American no longer believes in their bullshit. In fact, I am beginning to think most people are starting to hate (and I mean genuinely hate) anything conservative.
That’s precisely why they are passing laws at breakneck speeds: they want to make it illegal to hate them so they can hide behind laws. If you don’t believe it, take a look at how many videos have surfaced of conservatives being asked to leave concerts, being told they’re not wanted anywhere, or even being refused service at venues.
If you see an “R” next to a politician’s name, they are aware they are disliked. They don’t care anymore. They got what they wanted and no amount of protest will change their ways.
