I think a big part of the problem is that they (the so-called Christian Community) sells itself AS the moral leaders... which attracts anyone sketchy who needs a place to hide.

If you are a sicko who wants to diddle children, where would you go? Easy, join an evangelical church, paint yourself as being "concerned for our youth" and the parents will almost throw their children at you, because hey, free babysitting amiright?

And of course, there's the added bonus of "oh well I got caught, but Jebus fogaved me, so let me back in" and they all say, "yup, Jebus forgaved him" and let him loose among their children again.

I've always wondered if there's some limit to how many times Jebus forgives a person for the exact same crimes, or is Jebus as big a sucker as evangelicals?

Good stuff. There's also the mysterious case surrounding the Solomon family in Franklin, Tennessee. Father, a former news anchor, accused of covering up the questionable death of his son and of sexually abusing his daughter. His ex-wife, arrested for hiring a hit man to kill him. They belong to a mega-church in Franklin.

Thank you for this. I’ve been at odds with fundies while growing up in Alabama, after I became an out atheist at 14. Couldn’t talk to my best friend and another friend, whose parents went to the same church, ended up killing himself. Fuck those hateful people.

I was delighted, though, to learn the definition of the word "fundament."

I have always believed without proof that nearly all the Evangelical Churches in America are syncretic ones at worst (similar to voodoo) and misguided Christian communities based on misinterpreted and uneducated religious views at best looking like the Pharisees of old.

IT may seem whackadoo, but people don't seem to grasp that there was an Egyptian demon god called Maga ... look it up and you will see what he represented and you will be like holy fuck.

Projection is a confession, and rape and assault is far worse in these circles and churches then reported because they don't report and they obfuscate and hide behind religious privilege.

It is disgusting and sad and horrible, because people are hurting and need something good and positive and these charlatans take that hope and love and want for something better and piss it away.

IMO 2024 was the litimas test on a person's morality and ethics plain and simple. One has to pick an R ... (Religious or Republican) or a T (Trump or trusted)

The view is clear as day ... at least to me, and I know I am a broken man and person who fights his demons every damn day to try to be the best person I can be ...

Hey Ossiana, could you please write about lavender marriages? I thought they were a relic of the past but I've been seeing more right wingers and religious people claiming that "many" people are in LMs bc the man seems "effeminate" or the wife earns more money. I feel that it's somewhat on topic with what you just wrote.

Ah yes, the Duggars who hid behind being Baptists, on their TV show, when in fact they were Quiverful Fundies, who advocated for "blanket training", which meant literally beating the curiosity out of babies, and since they had so many, they forced the older ones to torture the younger ones!
