Thanks for speaking up about this, especially considering the experiences you have had. <3

Don’t let the bullies take over the playground. Block generously. Keep them at arms length. Don’t engage, it just provides them with target and opportunity.

I blocked that guy. A total misogynist trying to come across like a nice guy. Miss me with it.

We cannot normalize or mainstream hate. We can be louder. In 2026, the idea of a man simply believing that women are lesser -- not only is that stupid, not only is that hateful, not only is that pathetic, it's just LAME. It doesn't deserve any respect, it's not a train of thought that deserves even the slightest bit of oxygen. It's like championing a flat earth or wearing Bugle Boy jeans, in that there's zero excuse to see it this far in the 21st century.

I respect that people see hate in their sphere and they decide to leave that sphere. I get it. But I'm gonna stay in my sphere, and hate that comes my way is gonna get punched in the face. Metaphorically or otherwise. Misogyny is 100% unacceptable, and if someone thinks that argument requires wiggle room, well, their scumbag ass will always have Twitter.

I think we should refuse to surrender the space to them. We have a presence here. We need to elevate it. That's the thing about someone like Andrew Tate and his ilk -- ultimately these are weak, fragile people. They can't stand not being the center of attention. Take the attention from them. Overshadow them. Target their insecurity. These people are nothing without a microphone. If you can't destroy the microphone, screw with it, steal it, break it. These little boys can't deal with that.

Certainly you can do both. But you're overestimating the power of the average person. I can't silence people. Governments can silence people, and that's the nature of free speech. The First Amendment means that the government cannot persecute you for your speech. But if you're gonna come over to my place and start singing to Kanye West's "Heil Hitler", as Tate did a few months ago, I'm sending you out on the street on your ass, and you're probably gonna be missing some teeth.

As individual citizens, we cannot police the entire the world, so the point regarding suppressing speech is moot. That's why I said Tate can take his ass to Twitter. What we have to do is preserve our spaces, which means we need to CLAIM our spaces. Can I kick Tate off Substack? No. But with support, I can make it uncomfortable for him. I can turn it into an unsafe space for him and his pathetic goons. We can do that together.

Now, we can do both things, again. We CAN appeal to people's inherent goodness. But we can't give these goons a chance to take advantage of this, as cynics like Tate do, because he doesn't believe in inherent goodness of others. That's pretty much his whole angle. There's nothing wrong with being a marginalized voice -- I am a marginalized voice. But Tate should also be marginalized instead of mainstream. Because when a voice is mainstreamed, it's less about a reader's choice, and more about astroturfing toxic thought and behavior. We can never get rid of someone's choice, but we can fight against astroturfing.

In prison, I used to sit as a lunch table. Certain people weren't allowed to sit there. I wasn't in charged with policing it, and a the end of the table, you had all sorts of randos and weirdos. But I wasn't gonna allow certain people to specifically sit near me, and if they did, I had ways of letting them know. Lucky for them, there are a lot of lunch tables. Substack is my lunch table.

Fascism, racism and misogyny isn’t just “inane and distasteful” though. Those are moral failings championed by the sociopaths among us. These issues need to be rooted out and eradicated. Ignoring them is how we got here in the first place.

It's simple: don't get abortions. Don't tell others how to live life.

A good post. I especially liked the end part: "If every decent person leaves the site, the Nazis win. We can’t just deplatform ourselves to spite the platform owners. We have to think smart. We have to make a point of patronizing sites that don’t tolerate Tate’s bullshit on it. We also have to make a point of encouraging companies that are trying to make a left-wing, safe alternative to Substack. After all, we need a harbor before we land...Don’t deplatform yourself for the sake of trying to sway people who would love Epstein to get rid of a monster on their site. It won’t work. Just work on a solution, have a second site like Medium, and keep up the noise instead." I think a lot of people deplatform themselves either to go to Ghost, buttondown, Medium, or one of the other alternatives, then sneer at those who stay on here. Personally, I want to stay on here as long as I can, to balance out the awfulness on here.

O, do you think maybe if we all blocked him, & encouraged others to, that could influence the powers that be to cut off his platform here. As far as I'm concerned he has yelled fire in a crowded venue ! Would they let Gislain Maxwell on Substack. If they did what would we do ?

Thank you for this. You are right, we cannot let these people win.
