The old joke was that Republican men marry Republican women but they date Democratic women so they can have some fun first. (Misogyny noted.)

A nastier explanation is that it’s the same drive that had European antisemitic men lusting after Jewish women or working class racist white men in America wanting sex with Black women. It’s kind of creepy but documented. It’s not as benign as the men with animal wife fantasies or women who want to screw dinosaurs or other beasts.

I experience the Nazis with their sexually depraved fetishes involving Jewish women. Sick and pathetic on every level.

Good post. I’ve been wondering myself. In the end, it seems to be that same projection crap the right seems to live on.

I want to say that the TL;DNR here is just literally that Left-leaning women are ... hotter? For all the reasons you mention, and even just the fact that they have a personality, a sense of fun and humour (despite what the Conservatives say), and are independent, autonomous human beings who think for themselves? That's just...attractive!

I’ve generally found this to be the case, but it could just be a result of having grown up in a very left-leaning area.

But to a conservative, though? Generally relationships work better when people have interests in common.

From my understanding conservative men want to break a woman. The trad wife, conservative woman is already programmed to bend to the will of the man. Leftist women are not, the are “breakable” and those men crave that power.

Because, deep down, their conservative politics are just another disguise for sexist abuse, and they are too chicken to go against what their fraternity brothers believe in.

This described my marriage from 1990-2015. Yep, I got out a year before Trump got elected and told my lawyer, "My estranged husband is in the Tea Party on Steroids." He was awesome and said, "OMG, LT, the whole damned country is headed that way." And THAT was the first time I tried to explain what was happening in my marriage and felt heard.

Anyway, there's much more information and support now than at the time of my divorce. Typically, if a woman wasn't being physically abused then she would be expected to be grateful for having a husband who went to work or mowed the lawn or changed a diaper. Don't even bother trying to explain the emotional abuse to anyone!

Society writ large, friends and family are far more understanding and supportive now. I'm glad that we can find pockets of support now.

Wow, I'm an old, laid-back Hippie and it sort of staggers me that men are this fucked up. I have two young boys and I tried hard to raise them well. I don't want my lads to become those kind of men.

My assumption is that they want to break us like wild horses. I say “break” deliberately. They follow a creed that exults in the strong over the weak; what better thrill than taking a woman who claims to be an equal and proving that she’s not only unequal, she’s less? That makes him strong, right?

“if you’re having bedroom issues, you might want to actually read up on how the female body works, gents.”

Why would they do that? That’s not what women are for.

True conservative women say, “No ding-ding without a ring.” There’s your motivation.

I believe it's about the same thing most of the rest of this MAGA shit show is. It's about them forcing themselves on us to dominate us into submission. They want to forcibly turn us conservative. It's why they like rape and even raping children so much.

Liberal women are sexier, more interesting, and more individual, and just nicer. The women from HR are probably right wing.

Yep everything you list makes a lot of sense, but I’ll add one more random, maybe related thing… I have a (female) friend who is maybe not a conservative but holds a lot of conservative views. She defends Israel’s genocide, thinks homeless people ‘can’t be helped’, native people shouldn’t have land back ‘because the government already gives them plenty’ etc etc etc, and we keep getting into clashes about these things.

She also has a TON more of these views that she is purposely not sharing because she knows her friend group is not a safe space to do this. Which brought me to ask her, if you learn mostly right, why are you only exclusively friends with left wing people? Exclusively?

I know she has right-wing colleagues at work and often describes them as horrible people, even though she agrees with their views much more than she agrees with mine.

She couldn’t answer the question. ‘She just happens to like us more’. I asked doesn’t she think it’s weird she likes us but dismisses our beliefs, and agrees with people she finds annoying and repugnant? And she was like ‘no, I don’t think it’s weird….’

My conclusion is she likes proximity to left-leaning people because WE ARE DECENT HUMANS. I think it’s the same for the right wing guys. Even if they personally don’t want to be decent humans, something deep inside them still reacts to basic humanity.

Monte Mader was raised in an EXTREMELY conservative household, and finally broke free at 22 or 25. She has an excellent YouTube channel. One video is about the lack of sex education in her upbringing, and the devastating results, like not recognizing SA or, once it’s recognized, being made to feel guilty if you dare to go against an elder (usually the perpetrator).

Of course sugaring is conservative! It is literally about buying the right to have a very patriarchical kind of relationship.

Could it be that these men see conservative women as being boring? I mean, if you’re following the life script that society puts up for women (especially with this trad wife craze), what more is there for you as a person? Meanwhile, my friends who are liberals and leftists seem to be doing all different kinds of things with their lives, even if they’re married with children. But these people can make a choice to stop buying into the odd political ideas they hold so dear and change their lives accordingly. I don’t think it should be on liberals to engage in that emotional burden for their benefit.
